Supporting Our Community Through Pork in the Pantry

At our farm, we believe the food we raise should help nourish the community around us. That’s why we were grateful for the opportunity today to donate 167.79 pounds — nearly $1,000 worth — of pork to the La Luz Centro Cultural Food Pantry in Hampton, Iowa through the Pork in the Pantry program from the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Programs like Pork in the Pantry help connect local farmers with food pantries so that families can have access to nutritious, high-quality protein. Pork is an incredibly versatile ingredient that can stretch across many meals, making it a meaningful addition to the shelves of community food pantries.

As a multi-generation farm raising pigs right here in our community, it means a lot to know that pork raised locally can help feed neighbors who need it. Efforts like this remind us that farming isn’t just about growing food—it’s also about caring for the communities we’re part of.

We’re thankful to the Iowa Pork Producers Association for supporting this program and helping make donations like this possible.

If you or someone you know could benefit from the pantry, the La Luz Food Pantry is open the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, with additional dates and times shared on their Facebook page.

It’s always an honor to play a small role in helping get wholesome, locally raised food onto more kitchen tables.
